Safety

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Electrified GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The Electrified GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The EX60’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Genesis Electrified GV70 achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Volvo EX60 has not been tested.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Electrified GV70. But it costs extra on the EX60.

Both the Electrified GV70 and the EX60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2026 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention test. The EX60 has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

Warranty

The Electrified GV70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The EX60’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the Electrified GV70 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Volvo covers the EX60. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the EX60 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the Electrified GV70 for 1 year and 16000 miles longer than Volvo pays for maintenance for the EX60 (3/36,000 vs. 2/20,000).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Volvo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 75 more problems per 100 vehicles, Volvo is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Volvo With 29 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Genesis higher than Volvo.

Engine

The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 114 more horsepower (483 vs. 369) and 162 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 354) than the EX60 P6’s standard electric motor.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Electrified GV70 has a standard locking charge port, which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The EX60 doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

Transmission

The Electrified GV70’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The EX60 doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Electrified GV70’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the EX60:

Electrified GV70

Front Rotors

14.2 inches

13.6 inches

Rear Rotors

13.6 inches

12.8 inches

Ergonomics

The Electrified GV70 Prestige has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The EX60 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

On a hot day the Electrified GV70’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the EX60 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Electrified GV70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The EX60 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Electrified GV70’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The EX60’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

When the Electrified GV70 is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The EX60’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Electrified GV70 Advanced/Prestige has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the EX60.

The Electrified GV70 has a 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The EX60 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The EX60’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
